  • Internal Members
  • External Members

This is the main category. it encompasses full membership which is open to all bona fide students of the NUL, staff members and affiliates.

External Membership

Whereas the Library has an open-door policy by which walk-in users are welcomed, members of the public are urged to make arrangements in advance to ensure that their enquiries and needs will be met. Such arrangements demand formal registration that may entitle them to borrow materials. Institutional membership through payment of annual fees in convenient and the most recommended

The NUL Library at Roma, in Maseru and Mohale's Hoek attracts learners as the principal clients who physically visit the service points in great numbers. On account of their being in a position to access most electronic resources from their offices, lecturers and researchers visit the library in comparatively fewer numbers.

Activities at the branch and site libraries are coordinated and harmonized at Thomas Mofolo Library where a distance learning desk may be contacted. The functions of the distance learning team include:

  • The development of hybrid library/documentation and information service
  • Providing a link between the Library and its partners, namely the public, school and private libraries

Members may use archival, museum and rare items for reference only. The library also provides a short loan facility by which mainly lecturers lend their materials to specified learners. For long term borrowing entitlements are shown below:
